Yesterday, I received my package of shea butter that I ordered from Atlan Beauty Care on eBay. For me, shea butter is a beauty essential, especially in a hot, humid climate. It’s better than baby cream for preventing or soothing chafing. No mixed preparation does what unrefined shea butter does.
Many products now have shea butter in them, but there’s something you should know before getting all happy and wasting your money. Only unrefined shea butter has the healing and protective properties that it’s supposed to. Once it is refined, it’s basically just another grease.
Unrefined shea butter is solid, and a block of it can be easily rubbed over your skin in the summer time. In colder weather though, it can be a bit cumbersome to use. So it’s good to make a kind of skin frosting that you can use as a lotion. Just shake up about a 2 tablespoon chunk into a bottle of about a cup of olive oil. For an extra boost, you can add about a teaspoon of oblipicha oil. Oblipicha has its own skin conditioning, antioxidant, and mildly antimicrobial properties.
